People beset with craving are terrified like a snared hare. Held fast by fetters and bonds, for a long time they undergo suffering again and again.


渇愛に支配される人々は、罠にかかった兎の如く、恐れる。結と執着によって衆生は、再三再四末永く苦に近づく。

In beings, pleasures arise that rush toward sense-objects. Such beings are steeped in craving. Bent on happiness, they pursue happiness. Surely, such beings are subject to birth and decay.


人々は愛情に流されて喜ぶ。その喜びに執着して楽を求める人々は、実に[一歩一歩]生老に近づく。

The streams of craving flow everywhere. The creeper of craving buds and shoots. Seeing the creeper that has sprung up, use wisdom to cut the root.


[渇愛の]流れは一切処に流れ、[渇愛という]カズラ草は発生しては繁殖する。その発生したカズラ草を見て、[賢者は]智慧によってその根を切断せよ！

One of wrong views in whom the thirty-six powerful currents of craving that rush toward pleasurable objects hold sway, will be carried off, swept away by list.


三十六の[渇愛の]流れは、快楽に向かって激しく流れる。貪欲による思惟という激流は、[正]見の無い人を運ぶ。
